The Planners job involves identification of the jobs that need to be done within a given period, their temporal constraints, inter-relationships, the resource requirements, the effort requirements and the execution location. He then decides time slots/execution time windows and resource for implementation..

 
  The planner may also be involved in the scheduling and dispatching process, where times are fixed, resources are assigned and all the players (resources and clients) are informed of the schedules. For this, OptiMate provides features like:

  Ability to inform resources of assignments by printing job cards, e-mailing / faxing job cards and automatically dispatching assignment information through SMS messages or smart phones or PDAs.
   
 
  Time, money, people, teams, vehicles, specialised equipment, spares and consumables are just some of the resources that are required to fulfil a job.  
     
  The main requirement for vehicles and inventory is to ensure that they are available and blocked for the jobs. People and teams require access to assignments details, service records, stock details, client details, work instructions, calendar management and actuals registration.   Ability to query and view details of a resource's assignments, or in the case of a person, his or her own assignments, by client, by job, by location, by time, by spatial co-ordinates.
  Ability to view possible routes and sequences of jobs to be performed.
  Ability to get additional job information, either on a notebook or a pocket PC.
  Ability to enter inventory consumption details.
  Ability to enter work progress or completion status and time registration through mobile devices remotely or via the Internet.
  Ability to modify and maintain calendar information such as working hours and vacation details
  Ability to view unassigned jobs and volunteer to take up assignments.
  Ability to view service history, equipment-wise and client-wise.
