| MIGRATION |
| |
| Mastering
two worlds |
 |
|
The technology world is changing pace and
rapid advances are being made in every area
of technology. This means that what was
state-of-the-art 2 years ago is already
old hat. Customers need to keep their systems
upto speed to remain competetive and ahead
of the competition. This is where migrations
skills are most important.
|
|
|
|
 |
| |
| Migration calls to the
fore expertise in old, obsolete or outdated
technology as well as knowledge and skills
a new platforms and technology. Only a clear
understanding of both worlds can result in
a successful upgrade. |
| |
| KOM7 has rich experience
in applications migration from over 10 years
of providing solutions to clients in this
dynamic business environment. We have consistently
kept our focus on leveraging new technologies
in a proven and cost-effective method for
each client. The art of upgrading to new platforms
and new technology requires full understanding
of the existing application and the new technology.
Our project references clearly outline our
experiences. |

Spot Light
Conversion of Forms 3.0
to Forms 4.5 |
| |
|
| |
Client:
|
Airman - A large
Asian airline company |
| |
|
|
| |
Background: |
The existing system
was Oracle based and used Forms 3.0 as the front
end. The company's strategy was to move away from
character based systems to fully GUI systems and
then subsequently to web based systems. The database
server resided on an RS/6000 and all the development
was done on NT workstations. |
| |
|
|
| |
The project: |
The system had to
be converted to Forms 4.5 with all the GUI features
that were available. There are over 300 forms and
350 tables in this system. Some of the main modules
in the system include Commercial Administration,
Job Control, Component and Transit Item Tracking,
Inventory Management, and Labour Resource Management. |
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
| Highlights: |
|
Rapid application
migration. The first delivery was done in 2 months
of elapsed time since the start of the project. |
|
Fully GUI systems
from character oriented forms including full mouse
support |
|
Large application
with many forms and tables |
|
